Hurricane Pet Preparedness Symposium

Saturday, July 28, 2018
1:30pm – 3:00pm

“As we get closer to the 2018 hurricane season, the board of directors of FBPA! sees the need to bring information about pet preparedness to our pet loving citizens in Fort Bend County. Thanks to Congressman Olson and Rosenberg Councilman Jacob Balderas for co-chairing the event. Texas Human Legislative Network is the co-host of the event. We all came together to use this opportunity to help get the word out to families about what must be done to protect their families and family pets in case of another emergency or hurricane.

Fort Bend County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) will be the key presenter of the symposium. They will give recommendations of emergency preparedness for the 2018 hurricane season for families with pets and service animals, with topics covering family/pet evacuation, food and water safety, shelter for families with pets, sanitation, transportation for pets, and medical aid.

Salise Shuttlesworth, Exe. Director of Friends For Life, a LEED certified No Kill shelter in Houston will give an account of how they went above and beyond, set standard for disaster response for pets during Hurricane Harvey.

Laura Halloran, Exe. Director of THLN will speak about the law that protects our pets in emergency situations.
