2017 Election
November 2017
Fort Bend County Animal Welfare Voter Information Guide
(City of Missouri City)
On November 7th, 2017, Missouri City will have city elections for city council members in all districts A through D.
The Animal Welfare Voter Information Guide was created for Fort Bend County citizens as a reference so that the City of Missouri city voters will be informed about which candidates support the No-Kill model. It is crucial that we elect people who care about this issue and are willing to solve it to ultimately end the killing of shelter pets in our community. Please be informed before you cast your vote. We appreciate every candidate who responded to the survey. However, several chose not to respond.
In October 2017, Fort Bend Pets Alive! has sent eight questions concerning animal sheltering issues to candidates running for City Council for 2017 City Election in City of Missouri City. The purpose of the Survey was to understand the stances and intentions of the candidates regarding animal welfare issues such as life saving programs that can help make Fort Bend County a No Kill community. As part of an awareness campaign started by Fort Bend Pets Alive!, candidates’ responses have been reviewed and compiled by our committee. Please make an informed decision as a voter. Our committee reviewed both responses and animal-welfare records of all candidates. Nonetheless, there are candidates who rose above others. We should mention Mr. Jeffrey L. Boney, an unopposed candidate, took his time to respond to the Animal Welfare Questionnaire.

May 2017
Fort Bend County Animal Welfare Voter Information Guide
(City of Sugar Land, City of Stafford, City of Rosenberg, & City of Fulshear)
On May 6th, 2017, Fort Bend County will have city elections for mayor and city council members.
The Animal Welfare Voter Information Guide was created for Fort Bend County citizens as a reference so that the Fort Bend County voters will be informed about which candidates support the No-Kill model. It is crucial that we elect people who care about this issue and are willing to solve it to ultimately end the killing of shelter pets in Fort Bend County. We appreciate everyone who responded to the survey. However, several candidates and incumbents chose not to respond.
In March 2017, Fort Bend Pets Alive! has sent eleven questions concerning animal sheltering issues to candidates running for Mayor and City Council for 2017 City Election in City of Sugar Land, City of Stafford, City of Rosenberg and City of Fulshear. The purpose of the Survey was to understand the stances and intentions of the candidates regarding animal welfare issues such as life saving programs that can help make Fort Bend County a No Kill community. As part of an awareness campaign started by Fort Bend Pets Alive! , candidates’ responses have been reviewed and compiled by our committee. Please make an informed decision as a voter.
Our committee reviewed both responses and animal-welfare records of all candidates. Nonetheless, some candidates rose above others. Of the five unopposed incumbents in Fort Bend County, Mayor Scarcella of Stafford is the only unopposed incumbent who took his time to respond to the Animal Welfare Questionnaire. He was also the first one to return the survey amongst all who received the packet.
Mayor Scarcella of Stafford also stood out in Fort Bend County in the past years. His commitment to advance animal welfare is evident in his steadfast leadership as Mayor in Stafford. In 2015 and 2016, he advocated to improve the over forty-year old animal control ordinance to have provisions for no kill initiatives. He is unafraid to challenge his fellow city Council Members, City management and animal advocates to do more and better for the companion animals. He strives to save lives of dogs and cats and deserves the most credit for leading City of Stafford’s future animal shelter to be a lifesaving, compassionate and loving place for homeless pets. City of Stafford is the only municipality in Fort Bend County that allows Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) for community cats. Mayor Scarcella has been the Mayor of City of Stafford for over forty five years for very good reasons.
