P.A.S.S. (Positive Alternatives to Shelter Surrender)

Positive Alternatives to Shelter Surrender (PASS) is a service provided by Fort Bend Pets Alive! to help people help their pets to find new homes or to stay in current homes. It was set up to fill in that gap by helping the public find resources to help keep their pets, or pets they have found, out of the shelter. We also offer support to owners when they are in crisis.

Our volunteers take emails from pet owners. We have a variety of ways we can help you help your pet, from ad placement resources to low cost medical options.

When pet owners fall into hardships due to a lost job, death in the family or health issues, we work together with pet owners to determine and implement the best solution for the families and the pets. We also offer:

  1. Food supply
  2. Advice and assistance with solving behavioral or medical issues
  3. Donated boarding in crisis situations
  4. Assistance with marketing help
  5. Limited assistance with re-homing pets

Keeping animals in good homes is our priority. We will help pet owners find resources so their beloved pet will not end up in local shelters and subject to be unnecessarily euthanized for no reason. Our partnership can reduce shelter intakes of dogs and cats in Fort Bend County to help reduce the euthanasia rate.

FBPA! is a nonprofit animal advocacy group, thus we do not have any programs to enroll or take in any pet. We are an organization run by volunteers with limited funding to help owners re-home their pets. Although we do everything we can to help keep animals out of the shelter, participation on your part is required during the process.

Thank you for caring enough to try and keep pets out of the shelter.

RE-HOMING A PET

Our friends at Friends For Life No-Kill shelter has amazing resources to help you. The goal is to make life an option for animals in need and the people helping them.

FOOD & SUPPLY

You will be required to fill out a Food Bank supply form and will also be asked to provide photo ID. The supplies we provide are meant to help you and your animal through a difficult time. Our food bank is not meant to provide a permanent solution, therefore, the number of times you will be allowed to receive supplies is limited. Our goal is to help you hold onto your animal and each situation will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis with this goal in mind. Our food and supply bank is completely stocked by donations we receive, therefore, we cannot guarantee any specific brand or type of food or supplies.
